ArtAction– Singapore
ArtAction's mission is to improve lives on the frontlines of the developing world by harnessing the unique powers and properties of the arts to help address the root causes of poverty, illness and conflict. ArtAction provided a start-up grant for the Aziza’s Place Film Education Program that began in 2008.
Aziza Schoolhouse– Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The Aziza Schoolhouse provides education for marginalized Cambodian communities. The school is located in the Tonle Bassac slum called Dey Krahom that was forcibly evicted in January 2009. It has been providing free English lessons, leadership training, computers, life skills, and medical services to nearly 200 young people since May 2006.
Chibodia– Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Chibodia is a German-based international NGO whose mission is to offer assistance to existing children’s orphanages and to open their own children’s homes. Chibodia’s projects in Cambodia range from providing safe homes for children to health services and education. The organization has been an important partner to Aziza’s Place since 2007.
The Citizens Foundation (TCF) - Pakistan
Five Pakistani businessmen established The Citizens
Foundation in 1995. Focused on improving the fortunes
of Pakistani children through education, TCF has built
over 300 schools in the past ten years and continues
to build and establish elementary and secondary schools
at a rate of one per week.
GGK Ghori Medical Center, Rajapalyam,
Tamil Nadu, India
GGK Ghori Medical Center opened in February 2006 in
memory of Dr. Hussain Ghori, Aziza’s great-uncle.
The Hospital is committed to providing cost-free medical
services for patients unable to pay.
Indochina Starfish Foundation (ISF) – Phnom Penh, Cambodia
ISF is an international charity founded in 2006 whose key aim is to provide a lifeline for some of the poorest, most disadvantaged children in Cambodia by providing them with the opportunity to complete a full education program, the opportunity to participate in a weekly youth football coaching program, or, in some cases, both. The children of Aziza’s Place have been a part of ISF’s football program since 2007 where the children are provided access to play football two times per week.
LBL Foundation for Children - New York, NY - USA
Ugandan-born Olara A. Ottunu, former UN Under Secretary
General and Special Representative for Children and
Armed Conflict, founded the LBL Foundation for Children
in 2006. It is an independent international organization
focused on protecting, healing and educating children
in countries devastated by war.
The Little School – Mandalay,
Myanmar (Burma)
Thuza Win founded The Little School in Mandalay, Myanmar
(Burma) in 2004 with the help of two Mormon Missionaries.
The school teaches basic reading, writing and math to
approximately 120 children disadvantaged children, aged
5-17.
Moms Against Poverty (MAP) – Burlingame, CA
Moms Against Poverty (MAP) is a non-profit, charitable organization based in the United States. The organization was created by a handful of concerned mothers passionate about the life of every child born to the human race. MAP's mission is to advance the quality of life for children facing extreme poverty through education, and improved health services. MAP has provided financial and institutional support for Aziza’s Place in Cambodia since 2008. In 2009, AP was honored to be awarded a $10,000 grant from MAP
One Laptop Per Child (OLPC)
OLPC’s vision is to create educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. Aziza’s Place was a proud recipient of XO Laptops through the OLPC program in 2008 which provided each child and staff member with their own laptop.
The Pari Project - Phnom Penh, Cambodia
The Pari Project provides development and organizational services to NGOs in Asia and Africa. Pari is directed and staffed by a team of socially minded development professionals, who have dedicated their lives and their work to the fight against poverty. Pari believes the organizations they serve have the power to change the lives of the most vulnerable. The Pari team has been instrumental in the growth of Aziza's Place in Cambodia since 2007 and has been key to launching its film educaiton program.
